Nose: tire fire erased by 1,000 pencils, washed by sea water, but, you know, refined
Palate: lemon sweets on fire in an oil slick coating a slippery fish
Finish: fish pate soaked with lemon, sand coated pop-rocks
Balance: gentle waves attack on taste, wash away on taste, lap back on finish, then slowly withdraw
Nose: had to a pour a Laphroaig single cask for comparison. Left it in the dust!
Palate: reminds me of the first time I tried Laphroaig. Best kind of smokey
Finish: super smooth, smoke lingers nicely
Balance: nothing out of place, but the best parts are in the nose
Palate: for me... tastes like Bill Murray must smell
Nose: edgy, intriguing
Palate: wow! shockingly delicious
Finish: best part is the finish
Balance: quite happy with this
Nose: oily butterscotch
Palate: warm and inviting
Finish: smooth, smokey
Balance: works well as an experience
Nose: incense, peppermints, cinnamon and cloves. Baking sugar cookies in an old church on a rain-lashed Scottish island. The scent of this morning's breakfast bacon lingers in the air. Is that a dill pickle?
Palate: slightly burnt crumpet rolls across the tongue, haunted by this morning's bacon. Caramelized cupcakes and green sticks.
Finish: so damn smooth. A baby's bottom is sandpaper in comparison. Warm in the throat. Spiced pears on the tongue.
Balance: Beautiful
Nose: very fragrant with light smoke
Palate: buttery, oils linger, rounded taste, very savory
Finish: smooth for being peaty
Balance: very different from other Ardbeg whisky, well balanced
Nose: slightly medicinal - but great!
Nose: fishy, fishy fish fish fish. Seaweed drying in the sun, but the a wave gets it all wet again. Amazing unique nose unlike any other.
Palate: scallops and salt water, eating berries on the beach, waves lapping on the shore
Finish: dessication, desolation, like a charcoal briquette was dragged across my tongue, sense memory of trips to cap Cod, day and night
Balance: wowie, zowie, this is a marvelous whisky. I am really enjoying it. Thank you, Adrbeg (standing ovation). This is a Bootsy Collins whisky - it's seriously funky.
Nose: Vanilla oak, smoke
Palate: Camphor, carrot, oak, wood
Finish: Carrot, camphor, grass
Balance: Slightly sweet with some smoke and woody tones.
Nose: lemony, fresh, reminds me of lemon custard
Palate: (learned about swishing and coating mouth today) learning to taste cask strength whiskies
Balance: good whisky but overall experience was very educational
Nose: someone poured eucalyptus cough syrup on my fire
Palate: oddly Laphoraig-ish, bright notes on tongue under the dark skies of the roof of the mouth above
Finish: embers sprinkled with bitter-sweet non-pareils
Balance: very nice!
Nose: rubber wellingtons that belong to a car repair guy who left them baking in the sun, also tires
Palate: good hit, big charcoal, big... something
Finish: mmmh! Fat oily sardines on a charcoal grill, charred to bitterness around the edges
Balance: charcoal from start to finish. Love it
Nose: sweet balanced caramel that develops with a tinge of smoke
Palate: warm, thick and smooth, obviously smokey but holds back
Finish: this house guest leaves the home feeling warm and welcoming more
Balance: honestly the best part, perfectly balanced
Nose: peat! Salt, slight burn, something sweet in there too
Palate: good peat, no overpowering, really nice on the tongue to trill around
Finish: oily, has a nice malty linger
Balance: strong peat but not overpowering, very nice overall, brine, peat, some sweet
Nose: sexy man, musk, campfire, hickory
Palate: sweet peat, charred bell peppers
Finish: bacon, rubber, weighs heavy, tobacco
Balance: classic peaty scotch with a strong finish
Nose: bold yet inviting, complex peat
Palate: smooth, complex, great oily linger, bold subsides leaving behind peat/smoke
Finish: smokey
Nose: cedar wood, amber wood, sandal wood
Palate: spicy with the freshness of the ocean
Finish: tingly, magical, woodsy
Balance: it's like an old friend staying over who cleaned up but took a little too long to leave
Nose: reminds me of the 10 year Ardbeg
Palate: slight seawater taste, love it!
Finish: super smooth
Balance: almost perfect
Nose: reminds me of trip down (?) on the Wakerley, oil, pistons, sea air, bacon sandwiches
Palate: intense flavour, sparkling, then tar pits at the back, the smolders peat
Finish: like the crash and then the linger of smoky peat
Balance: fun, fun, fun, like a big wave, then crashes on the beach, then pulls out and the wave (?) gently back in
Nose: bacon and green bean casserole
Finish: charcoaled finish with... salmon?
